Douglas A. Prutton was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 13, 1957. He obtained a B.S. in Forestry from Michigan State University in 1979 with high honors. In 1982 he graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.
From 1982 to 1984, he practiced law with Baxter & Hammond in Grand Rapids, Michigan representing corporations and insurance companies. He worked closely with Richard Baxter, Esq., one of the preeminent trial lawyers in Western Michigan.
From 1985 to 1987, Mr. Prutton practiced law with Low, Ball, & Lynch, a San Francisco, California firm with a branch office in Walnut Creek. He represented insurance companies and corporations as an associate with this highly regarded firm. He worked closely with Joyce Cram who became a Superior Court Judge in Contra Costa County.
From 1987 to the present, Mr. Prutton has owned and operated The Law Office of Douglas A. Prutton representing exclusively injured persons, consumers, and employees. He has been a member of the Alameda and Contra Costa County Bar Associations, The Consumer Attorneys of California, the California Employment Lawyers Association, the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, and has held various board positions within these organizations.
Mr. Prutton and his wife have raised three daughters in Contra Costa County, many of those hours involving swimming pools- all three of their daughters swam competitively at Division I Colleges. In his spare time, Mr. Prutton enjoys playing guitar, writing songs, hiking, reading, and playing basketball and softball. He manages the Bad Attitude softball team which he has played for since 1985.
